The truth about root canal therapy: what actually happens inside your tooth
Inside every tooth is a soft tissue called the pulp, containing nerves, blood vessels, and connective tissue. When bacteria get inside through deep decay, a crack, or a chip, they infect the pulp. This causes the pain, swelling, and sensitivity you are experiencing.
Root canal therapy removes that infected pulp, cleans and disinfects the inside of the tooth, and seals it permanently against re-infection. The tooth itself stays exactly where it is, intact, functional, and yours.

We examine your tooth carefully, take digital X-rays, and confirm the diagnosis. You will know exactly what is happening before we discuss any treatment.
We administer local anaesthetic and take all the time needed to ensure you are completely numb before anything else happens. There is no rush. Your comfort is non-negotiable.
Using gentle rotary instruments, the infected pulp is carefully removed from all root canals. Each canal is precisely shaped and cleaned to remove all bacteria and debris.
The canals are irrigated with antimicrobial solution to eliminate any remaining bacteria and sterilise the interior of the tooth. This step is what prevents the infection from returning.
The cleaned canals are filled with a biocompatible material called gutta-percha, which permanently seals the canals against future bacterial entry. A filling closes the access point.
In most cases, a dental crown is placed following root canal therapy, particularly for back teeth. The crown protects the treated tooth from fracture and restores it to full function and appearance.
