1. Check

We can answer any question and give you tips on keeping your teeth healthy. Your dentist may take some x-rays if necessary, to examine your teeth in more detail. After this, your teeth will be cleaned.

2. Scale

This step involves removing plaque and tartar build-up. Most people get a little of this build-up around the gumline. Plaque and calculus can both cause damage to your teeth, so it is important to clean them regularly.

3. Polish

Your dentist will clean your teeth with a professional-grade electric toothbrush. This removes any superficial stains and cleans off any residual build-up. You’ll walk out of your appointment with a smooth, sparkling smile.

Extra Services

During a regular check-up, your dentist may require x-rays of your teeth or recommend a fluoride treatment.

Dental X-Ray

If you haven’t been to the dentist in a while your dentist may recommend x-rays be taken. This gives them a more thorough look at your teeth. It also enables them to see any previous dental work. This type of X-ray is called an Orthopantomogram (OPG for short) and gives us a panoramic view of your jaw. These images can be added to your file and can aid in any future treatment.

Fluoride Treatment

Fluoride is a natural mineral that helps to strengthen our teeth. It is recommended that you use fluoride-based toothpaste and drink tap water regularly. Tap water in Australia contains this essential mineral. Every so often your dentist may recommend a professional fluoride treatment if they think your teeth require it.

We use professional-grade fluoride which is highly concentrated. It is applied with either a swab, mouthwash, brush or tray. It takes just a few minutes. You will need to avoid eating for 30 minutes after the treatment to allow the fluoride to absorb.
